The Live Assembly #BSW24 with TheDadLab at the Royal Observatory

We are delighted to announce that YouTube content creator, and longtime supporter of British Science Week, Sergei Urban, best known as TheDadLab will be presenting the Live Assembly #BSW24 on Friday 8 March to kick start the Week’s celebrations.

The Live Assembly #BSW24 has been created in collaboration with our Major Partner, the Royal Observatory Greenwich.

The assembly will be livestreamed from the observatory grounds, and take pupils on a journey through telling and measuring time.

Don’t worry if you missed the live stream, you can watch the assembly on YouTube now.

Watch the assembly here.

The assembly is aimed at primary school aged pupils, with the language and topics particularly suited to KS2. The observatory’s Curator of Time will be showcasing a number of different time-telling instruments and devices which can be enjoyed by all ages.

In addition to exploring the history of timekeeping, watches and clocks, the TheDadLab will conduct a live demonstration of the Water clock activity from the British Science Week primary activity pack (p.27).

Sergei Urban, TheDadLab, says:

“I’m so excited to be part of this year’s British Science Week 30th anniversary celebrations. It’s awesome to know that thousands of children will get to experience the wonders of the observatory and planetarium from their classrooms, and I hope it will get teachers and students geared up for their British Science Week plans.

“Like the British Science Week team, I just want everyone to enjoy and do a bit of science, whether it’s an experiment from my channel or the activity we’re demonstrating, to show that anyone can be a scientist!”
