The countdown to British Science Week 2025 has begun – 7-16 March is just under two months away!
But there’s no need to wait until then to get stuck into STEM fun, start now with our British Science Week activity packs – available from today!
The packs, available to download for free, include lots of fun and educational activities for all ages based around the theme of ‘Change and adapt’. We’ve also provided information for schools and educators on how to incorporate CREST Awards into your plans, during and after the Week.
Lots of STEM subjects fall under the umbrella of ‘Change and adapt’, allowing for a wide range of brilliant activities! There are experiments for all ages including growing the perfect tomato, tracking mammal prints, and building a pulley!
We’ve also included low-resource challenges to get children and young people thinking about change using games looking at animal adaptation, how vaccines work and caterpillar camouflage.
The education packs cover ages under 5s to 14, although these are just recommendations, feel free to use and adapt them for any age group! We have the Early Years pack (under 5s), Primary pack (ages 5-11) and Secondary pack (ages 11-14).
We also have Community pack which offers activities for to do as a group in community settings, or to share with children and young people.

The poster competition is back!
All the packs also include information about our poster competition!
The competition is a little different this year – there are two categories. Early years and primary children can enter the themed competition as usual, the theme this year is ‘Change and adapt’ to match the packs. For secondary students, there is a special new category created in partnership with University College London (UCL).
This competition is all about making sure the air we breathe in public spaces is safe and clean. Secondary students, and older primary pupils if they choose, can design inventions to improve the health of our air which will be put in front of top scientists at UCL!
Older primary pupils can decide if they want to enter the ‘Change and adapt’-themed competition or the UCL competition, whereas secondary students can only enter the UCL competition.
